Meet the self-proclaimed “Undefeated Champion of Pizza Wine” — and frankly, we’re not going to argue.

Jungle Jungle is Unico Zelo’s brilliantly juicy take on Dolcetto, the northern Italian variety that seems almost purpose-built for casual drinking and food covered in cheese. For the 2023 release, fruit from Clare Valley’s Polish Hill River has been joined by Langhorne Creek Dolcetto, bringing together juicy blue fruit with a lovely savoury edge and some proper fine-grained tannin.

This is bright, energetic red wine without any of the pomp and ceremony. There’s loads of blueberry and fresh black cherry, a scattering of herbs and spice, and enough tannin and acidity to keep the whole thing wonderfully fresh. It’s delicious at normal red-wine temperature, but we reckon a little chill makes it even better.

Pizza is the obvious answer here, but burgers, BBQs, pasta and anything else best eaten with your hands will do nicely. Fun label, seriously good wine and dangerously easy to polish off.

Juicy blueberry and fresh black cherry lead the charge, layered with crushed herbs and a flicker of savoury spice. Bright and fresh through the palate with fine, gently grippy tannins and a dry, crunchy finish. Give it a slight chill and order the pizza.

As long as we receive your order before 2.00pm, in most cases your order will be delivered in one - two days if you live in mainland non-rural North Island. Friday orders will be delivered the following Monday. Rural or South Island deliveries take a day or two longer.
