Hailing from Emilia-Romagna in the heart of Italy, Santodeno Sangiovese Appassimento 2023 is proof you don't need to spend a fortune to enjoy seriously satisfying Italian red. Produced from Italy's most widely planted red grape, sangiovese, this wine uses the traditional appassimento method, where a portion of the grapes are left to partially dry before winemaking, resulting in a richer, fuller-bodied wine with plush dark fruit, gentle spice and a wonderfully smooth, velvety texture.

Packed with ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum flavours, with hints of dried fruit and sweet spice, this is a generous, warming red that's perfect alongside slow-cooked pasta, grilled meats or a cheeseboard.

The winery writes "This wine comes from hand-picked grapes, which are left in small cases to slowly dry, creating a rich and full bodied wine. Deeply coloured, with aromas of ripe red fruits, blackberry jam and spices with a smooth finish. Serve with roasted meats, rich pasta dishes or cheeses."

Freight is $49.99 per case of 12 (or part case).
N.B. Deliveries to Great Barrier Island must be collected from the wharf (No deliveries to individual addresses)

As long as we receive your order before 2.00pm, in most cases your order will be delivered in one - two days if you live in mainland non-rural North Island. Friday orders will be delivered the following Monday. Rural or South Island deliveries take a day or two longer.
