93/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
93/100 & TOP RANK | Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review

In the collective Advintage view, this is one of the Chardonnays of the Year and a wine that has become one of the most talked about releases in the wine trade since its release. Rohe 2024 is sold on allocation. We fought hard to get what we could but stock is very limited and if you are looking to secure some stock, we strongly suggest its time to get your A into G.

A rich, beautifully composed Marlborough Chardonnay with plenty of flavour and impressive freshness. Ripe peach, nectarine and melon lead the way, layered with grapefruit, vanilla and brioche from time in French oak. There’s a lovely creamy weight through the palate, balanced by juicy citrus acidity and a subtle struck-flint character that adds real complexity. Generous and powerful, but never overdone, with excellent length and a lingering savoury, toasty finish. A seriously smart Chardonnay from the Southern Valleys.

Tasting Notes

Cameron Douglas MS writes "There’s no mistaking the style and power of this wine with a bouquet of barrel spices and ripe orchard fruits. Aromas of vanilla and baked goods framing a core of peach and apple with a grapefruit peel suggestion. Lots of weight and creaminess, spice and fruits on the palate set in a dry style with fine tannins and medium+ acid line. Lovely balance and length, still youthful with ageing and development potential. Best drinking from early 2026 through 2029."

The winery writes "Expressive citrus and stone fruit aromas such as melon, ripe peach and nectarine complement grapefruit, vanilla and brioche flavours on the palate. These flavours are framed with a flinty complexity and core of juicy acidity. This wine is immediately enjoyable but will continue to drink well for the next eight years."
