Founded in 1985 in Friuli Venezia Giulia by Mauro Braidot, Mont’Albano was well ahead of the curve, embracing organic winegrowing long before it became fashionable. More than 40 years on, that experience shows. These are authentic, organically grown Italian wines made with real care and an eco-conscious approach, but without the premium price tag you might expect. Seriously attractive, full of character and ridiculously good value for money, the Mont’Albano range proves you don’t need to spend big to drink delicious Italian wine.

This is Primitivo doing exactly what you want it to do: ripe, generous and packed with flavour, but without becoming heavy or overdone. There’s a lovely rush of dark cherry, blackberry and juicy plum, backed by sweet spice, a touch of dried herbs and that unmistakably warm southern Italian richness. The palate is plush and smooth with soft, rounded tannins and plenty of ripe fruit carrying through to a long, gently spicy finish. A seriously satisfying Puglian red with loads of immediate appeal.

Tasting Notes

The winery writes "This wine is savoury, mineral and sumptuous; it unveils red fruit notes with hints of leather and white pepper. On the palate this wine is slightly tannic and full-bodied. Ideal with grilled meats and all the dishes of medium structure."

As long as we receive your order before 2.00pm, in most cases your order will be delivered in one - two days if you live in mainland non-rural North Island. Friday orders will be delivered the following Monday. Rural or South Island deliveries take a day or two longer.
