The 2022 vintage of this powerful, all conquering release from McArthur Ridge was awarded the most prestigious award - Best in Show Pinot Noir at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024, effectively making it the World's Best Pinot Noir. The following 2023 vintage also cleaned up at the award shows - scoring a whopping 4x Trophy Wins and multiple Gold Medals! This 2024 vintage is yet another exceptional example.

McArthur Ridge Southern Tor is a standout example of fulsome, rounded Central Otago Pinot. Bright ruby / purple in the glass, the palate is full of black cherries, smoky oak and gamey characters. Already delicious but there are years of cellaring ahead. Another top effort from Champion Winemaker Matt Connell, and one sip will make it clear why this special wine has picked up so many trophies over the years. Very highly recommended.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Very bright and fruity with a varietal core of dark raspberry and plum fruits, wild flowers and dried herbs, violets and layers of barrel spice. Youth and energy. On the palate a dry wine with a powerhouse of fruit and style, players of red berry fruits and barrel spice moments, lees and earth smoke. Firm tannins and medium+ acid line deliver a wine of freshness and style."

The winery writes "Deep ruby in colour, the nose is complex and perfumed with hints of rosehip, cherry and rich berry fruit. The palate is bright and focused with a core of dark fruit supported by fine tannins and layers of flavour. The acidity is balanced and helps support the rich fruit characters. This wine is drinking beautifully now but will reward cellaring."
