Natalie Mclean writes "Mazzei Fonterutoli 2022 Chianti Classico pours a bright ruby with a fragrant bouquet of ripe Morello cherry, wild strawberry and blood orange zest, underscored by dried violet petals and a whisper of thyme. On the palate it has a medium body and is lively, driven by crisp acidity and fine-grained tannins that frame layers of red fruit compote, savory leather and tobacco-leaf notes. Mid-palate herb tones—oregano and sage—meld into a persistent finish marked by chalky clay minerality and a touch of clove spice. Pairs very well with grilled rosemary-garlic lamb chops, pappardelle with wild boar ragù or a board of aged Tuscan pecorino and prosciutto."
