Guigal is arguably the most famous producer in the Rhône Valley, and while their reds tend to grab much of the attention, this Côtes du Rhône Blanc is a brilliant introduction to the whites of the region. The blend brings together viognier, roussanne, marsanne, clairette, bourboulenc and grenache blanc – a classic collection of Rhône varieties, each bringing something different to the finished wine.

Viognier leads the charge, providing the generous stone fruit and floral aromatics, while Roussanne and Marsanne add texture, richness and spice. Clairette, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc help bring freshness and lift, keeping everything beautifully balanced.

It’s a cracking example of just how much character a well-made Rhône white blend can deliver, and another seriously good buy from Guigal.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "The key to knowing a wine like this is recognising the floral, spice and white fruit combinations that speak first to the Viognier variety at the core. The cepage breakdown is as follows: 60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 8 % Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc, 2% Grenache Blanc taking this wine from delicacy to richness as it become ambient. Satin-cream touches on the palate with medium acidity, plenty of weight, flavours of flowers and delicate spices, fresh white fleshed fruits, honeysuckle and spice. Balanced and well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2030."

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Beautifully styled and elegantly expressed, the inviting bouquet shows ripe apricot, rockmelon, lemongrass, and jasmine nuances, followed by a succulent palate that's supple and silky. Harmonious and well-balanced, with a lengthy, soothing finish. At its best: now to 2028."
