Price: $26.99

91/100 | Tom Kline, Wine Pilot
90/100 | Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast

Benchmark Southern Barossa Shiraz from a cracker producer. Grant Burge have been making seriously good reds here for decades, and Miamba continues to deliver plenty of Barossa character and bang for your buck.

The 2024 is rich and generous, with ripe blackberry, dark plum and black cherry layered with warm spice, subtle chocolate and nicely judged oak. There’s plenty of flavour and concentration, balanced by supple tannins and enough freshness to keep everything beautifully composed.

Long, smooth and satisfying, this is classic Barossa Shiraz with a polished edge. Perfect with steak, roast lamb or anything off the barbecue.

Tasting Notes

Chrstina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast writes "A rich, enticing and lucid start to this classically styled Shiraz, it exudes chocolate, ground pepper, baking spice, plump plum and dark berry aromas. There's a welcome lift of acidity to counter the muscle of the tannins in the mouth. More supple fruit flavors abound, with an herbal edge to the finish. Drink now with barbecue fare."

Tom Kline, Wine Pilot writes "Blackberry and black plum sit at the core of the aromas with black pepper, coal and mocha notes dancing around the edges. Some air unlocks black olive, rosemary and seared meat adding savoury complexity. The palate holds cool, restrained dark fruit in a similar vein (a plus given restraint isn’t a common characteristic in this price point). It very much mirrors the nose with blackberry and black plum the centrepiece, and black pepper, coal and mocha the seasoning. There’s good tannin structure here – grainy, stacked and mocha-laced – providing a frame on which the dark fruits and coal can carry to medium length."

The winery writes "The aromas exhibit raspberry and liquorice, complemented by warm spices. The palate mirrors the aromas, with medium to full bodied red berry fruits that elegantly melds with the acid and tannin to produce an extremely well balanced wine."
