This superb expression from Glenmorangie was distilled by a team of 16 distillers known as the 'Sixteen Men of Tain' and was described by Dr. Bill Lumsden (Glenmorangie's Master of Whisky Creation) as the culmination of a "lifetime of experimentation and innovation".

While it carries no-age-statement, there is said to be an element of some of the distillery's oldest and rarest stocks in this Highland single malt, ranging from 35 to 40 years old. It was distilled twice through Glenmorangie's copper-pot stills, then matured in bespoke American virgin oak casks, before being bottled at 46%, with no chill-filtration.

The hard work clearly paid off, as not only did the Signet win Whisky of the Year, in the same year Lumsden was named Master Distiller of the Year too.

Tasting Notes

The nose begins with chocolate raisins and sugared mixed peels. Toasted spices, bread and butter pudding and golden syrup complement these aromas, while a note of Angostura bitters lingers beneath. The palate is Sweet, with syrupy cinnamon and drying malt, before a suggestion of chocolate and orange come through. A hint of lime rind is present, as are lychees and dates. The backdrop is filled with tobacco leaves and freshly roasted espresso beans, with a little honey-roasted cashew. The finish dries with notes of truffle oil lingering.

As long as we receive your order before 2.00pm, in most cases your order will be delivered in one - two days if you live in mainland non-rural North Island. Friday orders will be delivered the following Monday. Rural or South Island deliveries take a day or two longer.
