94/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
92/100 | Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review
92/100 | Joelle Thomson

The Dicey operation is the brainchild of brothers James and Matt Dicey who have both played integral roles in the Central Otago wine scene over the years. They certainly know their stuff and have put that to work to create the Dicey range of wines.

This delicious Central Otago Chenin Blanc is a stunning example of the varietal. Those classic apple and pear flavours are there, with honeysuckle notes in support and a bright finish. In an off dry style, the grape's naturally bright acidity sits in perfect balance. Quince and stewed apple lead the flavour profile, supported by a subtle savoury undertone. Excellent wine that suggests the future of this variety down south is in very good hands.

Tasting Notes

Yellow peach, passionfruit and floral nose and intense, succulent and zesty on the palate.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "An exciting wine with plush, ripe and vibrant flavours of green and yellow apples, baked versions as well as fresh, a stony mineral quality and fine lees complexity. An off-dry wine touches the palate with an immediate contrasting acid line, core fruit flavours repeat with a silky mouthfeel and plenty of length. A delicious wine with best drinking from 2025 through 2032+"
Stephen Wong MW writes"A note of flinty reduction on the nose. The palate is entirely different, piercingly sweet and linear with nectarine, ripe citrus and sweet apple flavours running along the sleek, medium-dry palate. Currently very primary and unevolved, there is just a suggestion of honeyed spice and even oyster shell minerality with grainy apple skin phenolics hiding under the sugar. An elegantly linear sweet chenin blanc which will absorb its reduction and slowly gain savoury, honeyed notes with careful cellaring."
