Chateau Garage is the exciting small batch project of Ollie Powrie, the former Head Viticulturist for Villa Maria, and well-known and loved character on the Hawke's Bay wine scene. Few people have such impeccable grower contacts as Ollie, so Chateau Garage was always going to be blessed with the best fruit. Now firmly established among Hawke’s Bay’s most exciting boutique producers, Chateau Garage has recently caught wine reviewer James Suckling's attention, a testament to the quality and consistency Ollie has built into every release.

This hand harvested syrah from the famed Two Terraces vineyard displays intense berry flavours and notes of cedar, with robust tannins and a long, lingering finish. 100% whole bunch pressed, there's great concentration, and has been handled correctly resulting in a beautiful wine. The team are huge fans of Ollie's wines and with just a tiny number of cases produced, you don't want to miss out on these excellent boutique wines.

Jane Skilton MW writes "An appealing aroma dominated by sweet ripe black cherry and damson but also some bright red plum, dried lavender and then sandalwood and star anise. The palate has rich, dense layers of fruit and there's a lovely backbone of fine chalky tannin in support."
David Walker Bell writes"Rich flavours of mulberry and liquorice, sit alongside fresher notes of blackberry and redcurrant, plus savoury olive and peat – and then more…thyme, sage and violet florals. Quite the maypole of flavours! Beyond the juice is a pleasantly simple structure, with fine tannin, vibrant acidity and background oak. The finish is smooth but still energetic and vibrant, benefitting from that lack of over-polishing."
The winery writes"The wine was pressed to a single seasoned French oak barrel for 9 months. Aromas of dark berry fruits, wild thyme and violets and an elegant tannin structure."

As long as we receive your order before 2.00pm, in most cases your order will be delivered in one - two days if you live in mainland non-rural North Island. Friday orders will be delivered the following Monday. Rural or South Island deliveries take a day or two longer.
