Good quality, straight cabernet franc is really hard to come by as lots of winemakers will blend it away however Beach House have bucked this trend and we're loving the result. Chris Harrison only produces cabernet franc in excellent vintages and that's clearly paid off for him here.

The wine has a healthy dose of tannic grip but it's well-balanced and is a stunning example of Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Franc. Rich and robust, there's an abundance of dark sweet fruit flavours that can't be denied. The bottle itself looks the part too. Go long.

Tasting Notes

Bob Campbell MW writes "Medium-bodied, elegant and supple red with raspberry, floral/red rose, cacao powder and fresh herb flavours supported by fine, ripe and peppery tannins. This wine strengthens my belief that cabernet franc has a great future in Hawke's Bay."
David Walker Bell writes "A dark garnet in the glass. Aromatic and smoky, with savoury herbal and dried spice notes above blackberry, plum, cherry, dark chocolate and violets. Rich and broad on the plate – a mix of sweet fruit plus dark, savoury notes of leather, nori and forest floor. The spine comes in the form of burly, grippy tannins and integrated acidity. It has excellent varietal character, with the finish bringing those elements together, with good persistence."
The winery writes "Violets, spice, chocolate, and damson plum saturate the nose whilst the palate is rich and opulent giving loads of dark red fruits. The tannins give the wine plenty of structure, also providing longevity for many years to come. Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Franc at its peak. Drink now until 2030."
