The Drappier family has been making wine in Urville, in the Côte des Bar, since 1808, and Pinot Noir has long been at the heart of the house. Carte d’Or is their calling card: a blend of 80% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 5% Meunier that comes remarkably close to Blanc de Noirs territory. With 40% reserve wines in the blend and a restrained dosage of just 5g/L, there’s plenty of depth and generosity here without sacrificing freshness.

White peach and ripe stone fruit lead the charge, followed by red-fruited Pinot character, quince, gentle spice and a lovely savoury complexity. The palate is generous, vinous and beautifully structured, carried by fine bubbles and enough freshness to keep everything lively. Drappier describes that distinctive quince character as one of the signatures of Carte d’Or, and it fits beautifully with the wine's richer Pinot Noir personality.

A superb introduction to one of Champagne's great family-owned houses – and a bottle that comfortably goes from aperitif to the dinner table.

The winery writes "A Champagne of great aromatic richness. The taste begins with stone fruits such as white vineyard peaches. A spicy note emerges in a powerful and complex mouthfeel. A vinous Champagne of grand complexity with a characteristic touch of quince jelly."

As long as we receive your order before 2.00pm, in most cases your order will be delivered in one - two days if you live in mainland non-rural North Island. Friday orders will be delivered the following Monday. Rural or South Island deliveries take a day or two longer.
