Les Jamelles Merlot 2023

Price: $21.99

THE ULTIMATE BIG SOFTY | PREPARE TO BE IMPRESSSED

91/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "Beautifully framed by supple texture and fine tannins"
RECOMMENDED | Cameron Douglas MS

Plush and remarkably rounded for a wine in this price band, Les Jamelles brings layers of pillow-soft red fruit flavours to the party in an easy drinking format that is moreish and dangerously easy to drink. It's just so approachable; a perfect anytime French red that we know will impress.

There’s plenty of ripe plum, juicy cherry and dark berry fruit here, wrapped up in a smooth, supple texture with just a touch of spice adding interest. The tannins are soft, the fruit is generous and there are no hard edges to get in the way. It’s the sort of red that asks very little of you – crack it open with pizza, pasta or a midweek meal and watch the bottle disappear.

Tasting Notes

Deep red colour; medium bodied with red fruits in the cherry, plum and raspberry spectrum. Easy drinking tannins with a super soft finish.

The winery writes "Deep in color, the Merlot Les Jamelles is rich, long, and round. It has flavors of ripe fruit (Burlat cherry, wild strawberry), as well as aromas of clafoutis and caramel. Notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and even cherry tomato are also present. The tannins are silky and pleasant on the palate. This Merlot is unanimously appreciated by guests! It is well-balanced and easy to drink."

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's splendidly ripe and inviting on the nose, showing dark cherry, clove, toasted nut and rich floral aromas. The succulent palate delivers good weight and plump mouthfeel, beautifully framed by supple texture and fine tannins, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2029."

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Plush, ripe and fruity bouquet with scents of plums and boysenberry, there’s floral note and mineral granite quality. Dry on the palate with flavours of yellow and red plums, some Pacific rose apple flavours, very fine fruit tannins and plenty of acidity for freshness and length. Well made, dry and ready to drink from day of purchase through 2027."
