There are few more respected people in the Hawke’s Bay wine industry than Kate Radburnd. Her long tenure running Pask and numerous governance and judging roles within the industry have created a legacy that she should be extremely proud of. Now her days are spent on Radburnd Cellars - a no expense spared attempt to make the very best wines of her career. A range of elite, small batch wines are being produced, with the releases earning high praise from top wine critics.

The 2018, 2019 and 2020 chardonnay earned a huge amount of positive chatter from her senior winemaker peers - and the 2021 carries on that run. A wine of exceptional pedigree and finesses, this Mendoza Chardonnay is the embodiment of precision, complexity and restraint. It delivers a seamless interplay of intensity and elegance - silken in texture, yet structured, with a bright line of acidity and perfectly weighted fruit. This is a chardonnay that speaks to site, vintage, and craftmanship - age worthy, sophisticated and uncompromising in quality.

Tasting Notes

The winery writes "This lively intense Chardonnay has a backbone of citrus fruits, predominantly lemonand grapefruit. This is supported with subtle, sweet French oak and layered flavoursof brioche and yeastiness. Texture abounds in the mouthfeel, with lovely density, whilst vibrant and fresh now, this wine is structured to age beautifully. Mendoza Chardonnay is known for its intensity and palate presence; this does not disappoint. Elegance and restraint personified."
Cameron Douglas MS writes"Fantastic nose and palate with a core of fruit purity and intensity reflecting a great vintage. A silk and satin smooth touch on the palate with flavours of white and yellow peach, red apple flesh and spice from barrel. The fine fruit and wood tannins along with the acid line frame the plate beautifully with a light creamy finesse and finish."
Bob Campbell MW writes "Intense, elegant chardonnay with citrus, grapefruit, bran biscuit, cashew nut and pronounced saline/oyster shell characters. Delicious mouth-watering wine with an ethereal texture and power that is delivered with consummate subtlety."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Exhibiting stunning complexity with poise and refinement, the wine shows summer peach, fig, nougat, hazelnut and lemon peel nuances with a hint of brioche. The palate displays outstanding concentration and plush texture, superbly framed by perfectly pitched acidity. Gorgeously harmonious and sensually appealing with an impressive, expansive finish."
