In 1994 Greg and Sue White established Whitehaven – named for the importance of family and memorialising the calm port ‘haven’ they’d found while anchoring in Marlborough. The distinctive anchor insignia seen on the Whitehaven label forever connects Whitehaven to its nautical beginnings and is a marque of the wine label’s quality, consistency and integrity.

This is fresh and vibrant pinot gris with juicy pear and apple characters underpinned with fresh acidity and a salivating mineral line. Quality gris from a highly respected Marlborough producer.

Tasting Notes

Ripe pear and apple flavours, with hints of savoury yeast lees notes and a thread of minerality on the palate. Dry to taste, this wine has gentle acidity and supportive, fine-textural tannins which promotes a long, clean finish to this wine.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's beautifully scented on the nose, showing ripe apricot, Asian pear, lemon peel and white floral aromas, leading to a succulent palate delivering excellent weight and supple texture. Splendidly composed and expressed, making it immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2027."
Cameron Douglas MS writes"Varietal and fruity, pure, fresh and lively bouquet centering on aromas of green pear and quince, some apple then citrus qualities. A floral touch adds complexity and lift. Crisp and dry with a layer of spice and warming alcohol accentuate the flavours of pomaceous fruit flavours and citrus. Well made and ready to drink from 2024 through 2027."
