The name Bilancia (Libra in Italian) came to winemaker Warren Gibson whilst reading his horoscope during a harvest in Italy, and his winemaking philosophy centres on balance, equilibrium and harmony.

Warren & Lorraine share a wealth of winemaking experience between them and this expertise shows, as Bilancia has been producing award winning wines since 1997. Sourced from three vineyard sites across Hawke's Bay, the 2023 Bilancia Chardonnay is an elegant and refined expression of Hawke's Bay chardonnay. A true beauty from two Hawke's Bay winemaking legends.

Tasting Notes

A delicious, medium bodied chardonnay with aromas of juicy stonefruit and citrus. Wild fermentation in barrel brings classic toasty characters with some mineral and flint complexity. A truly elegant and refined chardonnay.
Stephen Wong MW writes "Very cool, quiet aromas of orchid, white pepper, lemon rind and wet clay are teased from the bouquet with some coaxing. The palate is linear, driven by an tight spine of acidity wrapped in young coconut as it streaks in shades of pale towards the powder-dry finish of oyster-shell and faint jasmine. In a rather austere state currently, this is a very elegant and poised chardonnay which is uncompromisingly restrained and lean."

N.B. Deliveries to Great Barrier Island must be collected from the wharf (No deliveries to individual addresses)

As long as we receive your order before 2.00pm, in most cases your order will be delivered in one - two days if you live in mainland non-rural North Island. Friday orders will be delivered the following Monday. Rural or South Island deliveries take a day or two longer.
