93/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
90/100 | Bob Campbell MW
Blackenbrook are a small, family-run winery in the Nelson region. They take a 'quality over quantity' approach to winemaking and, as well as being an accredited sustainable winegrowing producer, most of their wines are also unfined and vegan.
Their 2023 sauvignon blanc is all kinds of delicious. It's fresh and vibrant with layers of citrus and herbaceousness on the palate. A must-try for fans of premium sauv.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Pungent, enticing, varietal and very slick bouquet. Aromas and flavours of white fleshed stone fruits, apple and pear, pure fresh gooseberry and tropical highlights, there’s a notable seam of sage, basil and fresh green herbs along with a stone and mineral complexity. Acidity is bright, saline and abundant, the core of fruit flavours and natural palate salivation manage this easily. Well made, very youthful and quite delicious"
Bob Campbell MW writes "Vibrant, high energy sauvignon with gooseberry, green capsicum, lime zest and lemon blossom flavours. Assertive acidity helps drive a lengthy drying finish. Great with freshly shucked oysters."
