A VALUE STAR IS BORN
FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
This is a lovely example of weighty, barrel-fermented chardonnay from highly experienced Hawke's Bay winemaker, Julianne (Julz) Brogden. This wine walks the tightrope between power and elegance with real aplomb - melding opulent fruit weight and creamy mouthfeel with layers of vibrant acidity. Stone fruit, citrus and some touches of minerality build through the palate and the finish is both very refreshing and very long lasting.
Enjoy now, with or without food, over the coming 4-5 years.

A classically styled, obviously well-made example of modern barrel-fermented chardonnay. Ripe and inviting on the nose with stonefruit, citrus and oak spice hints, the palate blossoms, developing those characters within a creamy, rounded framework, with plenty of fresh, citrus-led, acidity. The finish is impossibly long and bright - promising real cellar ability.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Complex and stylish, the wine shows mango, lemon peel, vanilla and cedar characters on the nose with a hint of sweet pastry. The palate is equally impressive with excellent concentration, splendidly complemented by creamy texture and beautifully infused acidity. Refined and sophisticated with richness as well as poise, finishing persistent and expansive. At its best: now to 2029."
