94/100 | Cameron Douglas MS

91/100 | Wine Enthusiast
A full-bodied Spanish red, mostly vinted from tempranillo with a touch of garnacha and mazuelo. With plenty of dark fruit richness, wood smoke and baking spices, this is a seriously rewarding glass of wine. Drink now or cellar for up to five years. A winner.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "A lovely classic bouquet with aromas of dark red fruits, a bourbon barrel vanilla richness, wood smoke and dark baking spices. Equally powerful on the palate with flavours of raspberry and red berries, currants and toasty wood and vanilla spice layers. Firmish tannins and acidity bring contrast and mouth as well as complexity and Rioja charm. Excellent drinking from 2022 through 2029."
The winery writes "Beronia Reserva 2017 is a deep black plum colour, clean and bright with a garnet rim. Attractive and intriguing on the nose it displays nutty aromas - roasted almonds, walnuts- followed by notes of plum and primarily but also ripe fruit and a pleasant hint of white pepper, which all add complexity and freshness. Full bodied the palate, the wine displays balanced acidity. The flavours are mostly of ripe fruit, whilst the finish is sweet and smooth bringing to mind cacao and roasted hazelnuts. This is a delicious wine, best enjoyed unhurriedly."
