The Gimblett Gravels wine growing region in Hawke's Bay has become synonymous with fine syrah production and Trinity Hill have long been at the forefront of the the region's development with this important variety. This five star release is very perfumed, supple and spicy; a very good example of the pretty / feminine style that the Hawke's Bay Syrah model is moving towards. Excellent.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Expressing purity and grace, the wine shows Black Doris plum, blueberry, violet, dark olive and toasted almond characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate offering outstanding depth and multi-layered mouthfeel. Tannins are polished and fine, and in abundance, providing excellent frame and structure. It’s wonderfully harmonious and supremely well balanced with a sustained refined finish."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Opaque appearance with a core of dark purple and ruby. Very youthful bouquet with scents of ripe black currant berries and dark plums, barrel spices and a light black pepper quality layer in complexity and breadth. Some lifted toasty barrel qualities and scents of clove, spice and vanilla. Delicious on the palate - full and rich in flavour and texture. Plum and black currant, clove and toasty barrel, lees, a gun-flint and roasted nut quality. Firm tannins and a back bone of acidity ensure this wine has an excellent foundation and will age well. The core fruits are powerful and lasting. A delicious though youthful example with a long finish."
The winery writes "Captivating florals, perfumed aromas of ripe blackberries and raspberries, savoury spice, liquorice, and Provençal herbs come together on a concentrated, silky, and succulent palate with a lingering, spicy finish. An outstanding Gimblett Gravels Syrah that will develop complex mineral, gamey characters with age. A superb match with full flavoured red meat dishes and game."
