FIVE STARS 18.5/20 | Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine reviews
Swift Wines are a boutique winemaking operation, with a focus on making quality, minimal intervention wines with maximum varietal expression.
This 2020 limited edition syrah was vinted from hand selected fruit from Bridge Pa, which was whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented. The resulting wine shows an enticing mix of fruit and savoury spice notes and is smooth and balanced on the palate. Whilst drinking beautifully now, the depth and concentration of this wine will allow it to cellar elegantly.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Young, fresh and vibrant bouquet with aromas of boysenberry and plum, raspberry and wild forest berries. A violet and spice layer with some spicy wood nuances add complexity. There’s a mix of fruit and savoury spices layers on the palate, plenty of acidity and firm youthful tannins for mouthfeel and foundation. Flavours mirror the bouquet to present a vital and enticing wine ready for drinking from mid to late 2022 through 2029."
Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews writes "Full, deep ruby-red with a black core, lighter on the rim. The wine has depth and concentration, filled the glass with violet, black peppercorn entwined with some dark herbs, underlying red plums and blackcurrants. Medium-full bodied, focused aromas of red and black plums melded with blackcurrants, violet, unfolding wet leaf, black peppercorn and a hint of tar. The palate is smooth, with firm, gravelly mineral tannins, leaves a drying, herbaceous mouthfeel. The fruit is just ripe with balanced, lacy acidity carries violet and tar to a fragrant, lengthy finish. Match with herb-crusted lamb and rose veal over the next 5 years."
The winery writes "The 2020 growing season was long with warm days and cool nights, allowing for natural acidity, giving this wine elegance, poise and great of fruit concentration."
