Cameron Douglas MS writes "Distinctive bouquet of ripe black cherry and barrel spices, dark plum and wood smoke, there’s a gun flint and savoury mineral quality and a core of ripeness and pinosity. Youthful, powerful, enticing. Delicious on the palate with a flinty ripe fruited core, dark cherry and black currant, a light dried herb quality, baked nut and wood smoke. Textures from tannins deliver a chalky fine quality, acidity some crunch and back bone."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Splendidly complex and sensually appealing, the wine shows dark plum, rich floral, dried mushroom and toasted nut aromas. The palate is equally satisfying with outstanding weight and generously textured mouthfeel, finishing superbly long and expansive. The wine offers layers of complex, delectable flavours, making it hugely appealing."
The winery writes "Upon release the wine has a bright ruby hue. The nose is layered and complex, with earthy notes of undergrowth, woodsmoke, truffle and pot pourri juxtaposed against dark cherry, cranberry, crushed lavender, and hints of clove. In the mouth the wine is generously proportioned, polished tannins and a seam of refreshing acidity tap dancing cheekily across on a broad silky palate. Fresh and vibrant yet concentrated, with a structured frame. The finish is spicy, decadent, and sustained, leaving lingering impressions of velvety depth."
