TROPHY FOR TOP NZ PINOT NOIR & 96/100 | IWC 2024
GOLD MEDAL | National Wine Awards of Aotearoa New Zealand 2023
GOLD MEDAL | NWWA 2024
90/100 | Decanter World Wine Awards 2024
Named after unique Brassknocker soils which the McArthur Ridge vineyard is planted in, this is a fine example of Central Pinot from a producer who has been making a huge name for themselves in recent years. This may be their 'entry level' pinot release, but there is nothing entry level about this wine. It's recently scored a huge accolade - winning the Trophy for Top New Zealand Pinot Noir at the International Wine Challenge this year. The IWC is one of the world's biggest wine shows, and receiving the this trophy is an absolutely tremendous achievement.
Still very youthful, it has generous, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, good complexity, and the lasting impression is very balanced and complete. Cellar over the coming 3-5 years to see a deeper broodiness emerge.

Decanter judges write "Bramble fruit, ripe black cherry, vanilla and sassafras spice. Firm yet silky tannins combine with a nice acid line producing structure and style."
The winery writes "Richly aromatic and complex, showing floral, ripe cherry, oak spice, and mocha notes on the nose. The palate is succulent with rich red berry notes and fine tannins. The wine is supported by fine acidity and finishes with a long and balanced persistency"

Brassknocker Pinot noir
First time drinking this pinot noir and found it very pleasant to share with friends. It is not a deep full bodied pinot noir but a subtle and easy to drink everyday pinot noir. Gets better the more you drink it. Was great with nibbles and little mince pies. Will look for this to have again.
