Seriously good wine at an affordable price point.
Telmo Rodriguez is best-known for travelling Spain, discovering hitherto neglected ancient vineyards and restoring them to their former glory. He has produced some of Spain's finest and most exciting wines. After trying and failing to buy an old vineyard of Monastrell in Alicante, he decided instead to make what he calls 'a good, simple wine, as in the days of the great wine traders'. Vinted from monastrell (also known as mourvedre or mataro) from Alicante in Spain, Almuvedre has long been one of the bargain wines of the world and the style-quality-value amalgam continues to boggle the mind. It's a lovely medium weight style with meaty flavours and some tobacco and smoky earth complexity.
We know this is special value. So will you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Fine and polished nose - floral, figgy and gently meaty, it's a delicate and perfectly varietal expression of Monastrell. Soft, wide tannins start the mouth off and a long rip of ripe acid in the back half really straightens things out.
