Vinted from the 2023 vintage, this is a softly rounded merlot with flavours in the ripe plum spectrum and plenty of juicy richness in the mouth. The finish is soft and long with good acid balance and very fine tannin structure. Another supple, immediately attractive wine from Matawhero. Recommended.

The winery writes "Deep dark crimson colour. Brooding, complex nose with hints of wild berry, blackcurrant and leather. A full-bodied red wine with good concentration of flavours. Sweet fruit on entry with flavours of wild berry, Doris plum and earthy undertones. The wine has lovely soft tannins - enjoy with meat, cheese platters or tapas."
