FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS
Another absolute belter from the Mission Estate Reserve series - which has to be one of New Zealand's best value ranges in this price point. This is powerfully fruited, dark and broody wine with classic cabernet leather and cigar complexities sitting over a palate that packs plenty of punch. Recommended.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Varietal, taut, fruity and new. Aromas and flavours of blackberry and dark spices, some chocolate moments, graphite, stones and toasty wood. Firm and dry with medium tannins and plenty of acidity, flavours that mirror the bouquet, are persistent and add length to a ripe and delicious finish. Definitely a food wine, I’m thinking a cheese-board."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's splendidly ripe and enticing on the nose, showing cassis, blueberry, rich floral, olive and cedar characters, followed by a wonderfully weighted palate delivering plump mouthfeel, wonderfully supported by finely infused tannins. Upfront and stylish with plenty of tasty flavours."
The winery writes "This impressively ripe Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from the Gimblett Gravels district in Hawke’s Bay, shows lifted aromas of cassis, dark plum, cigar and cedar, followed by a richly fruited and generous texture."
