Founded by the Peris family in 1984, Mont Rubi is a producer who marries tradition with innovation. Located in the Penedès region in Northeast Spain famed for producing the sparkling wine Cava, Mont Rubi go against the grain and are dedicated to producing still wines from overlooked indigenous grape varieties. With thirty hectares of high altitude sites, Mont Rubi craft wines that are fresh and elegant.

Begun in 2000, the Gaintus Project championed the revival of the near-extinct grape variety, Sumoll. The name Gaintus refers to a climbing trail in the Pyrenees and it symbolizes the challenge that Mont Rubi were facing. The Gaintus Radical Sumoll 2019 is vinted from 100% Sumoll and represents a huge achievement for the winery, and with two impressive 90+ point reviews, clearly the project was a success.
