Lead by the winemaker known as 'the father of New Zealand wine', sir George Fistonich, Cuvar Winery launched in 2023 to continue his passion for winemaking and viticulture. Cuvar, meaning Guardian in Croatian, celebrates Sir George's Croatian heritage which is also reflected in the label. The Iris is Croatia's national flower - a symbol of hope, wisdom and valour.
From the exceptional 2021 vintage comes this gorgeous, all conquering chardonnay bursting with ripe stonefruit characters backed up by complex notes of cinnamon and allspice. A backbone of fruit acid supports this wine right through to the finish, and leaves you wanting more. Delicious.

The winery writes "With the first sip, this wine displays an array of stone fruits and baked apples with cinnamon and allspice. These flavours are wrapped around a noble pillar of fruit acid that supports this wine right through to the finish and leaves you wanting more. The natural ferment component contributes to the suppleness of the palate adding complexity as well as enhancing the unwavering finish."
