95/100 'Outstanding' | Cameron Douglas MS
93/100 | Robert Parker
Blessed with some of the best grape-growing land in New Zealand's Northland region, The Landing vineyard produces award-winning, sustainable wines. It's also home to world class boutique accomodation that was chosen for President Obama on his 2018 New Zealand visit.
The 2022 syrah is another oustanding addition to The Landing collection. There's plenty of red berry flavours flowing through the palate with fine tannins and a hint of salinity. Top notch.

The winery writes "Rich in colour with a nose of dark berries and warm spice, this wine’s palate is elegant but powerful, with a core of dark fruit flavours, fine-grained tannins and a lingering finish. Hand-picked fruit, with a portion whole-cluster fermented to give the finished wine a full bouquet and softer tannin structure."
Robert Parker writes "Driven by a massal selection of Syrah clones, the 2022 The Landing Syrah is aromatic and fresh, with pink and red berries, strawberry, hints of sumac spice, pomegranate pearls and black cherry. In the mouth, the wine is grippy and dark, with a black core of fruit that spools out into fine graphite tannins. It moves in a vortex pattern. I like it. Super elegant."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Core colours and hues of purples and rubys with a lighter pink rim and colour staining of the tears. A youthful expressive bouquet with layers of red bruits and spices through violets and gravelly mineral. Equally youthful and very vibrant on the palate with flavours of fresh and baked raspberry, spiced boysenberry and layers of smoky oak. Tannins are firm, deliver on texture and acidity delivers the backbone carrying flavours, freshness and salinity. A lengthy finish and decent complexity."
