This charming red is brimming with juicy, fleshy flavours of ripe summer berries with supple mouthfeel and gentle tannins.
It's uncomplicated. It's not challenging. And that's the whole point. It's all about soft, easy drinking. It's a perfect wine to start an evening with. It goes wonderfully with moderately spicy dishes and can be even be served lightly chilled if you wish.

Gamay Noir is the grape of the Beaujolais region but Te Mata's version is miles away from the insipid beaujolais nouveaux wines that are normally associated with this famous French appellation. Stylistically, Te Mata's version is much closer to Beaujolais Grand Cru - loaded with soft dark summer fruits and slippery, slurpy mouthfeel.
The winery writes "Wild strawberry, liquorice, watermelon and sherbet characters create the instant appeal of Gamay Noir ’23, an ultra-modern, flavour-packed, light-bodied red. Cherry-crimson in the glass, the wine’s lush palate is saturated by vibrant red berry fruit and candied apple. Quenchable and balanced with a refreshing acidity on the finish."
