Cameron Douglas MS writes "A perfectly balanced fruity wine with flavours and textures of blackberries, some licorice, black currant and blue fruits laced with peppery spices of clove and peppercorn. There’s also a flavours of chocolate and wood smoke accentuated through the tannins and acid line."
James Halliday writes "This is a very good St Hugo. There’s a decent amount of oak but it feels in check – the fruit has so much juiciness and run that the oak helps to keep it bedded. It’s a mulberried, curranty, minty release with eucalypt top notes, apple-like acidity, and excellent spread to the tannin. The chalkiness of the finish, inlaid with juicy fruit, is the key to the wine’s quality. It’s not a massive release in terms of intensity, but it’s above medium weight and it’s lengthy."
