Sam Harrop's Grand Amateaur range takes a fresh look at winemaking and challenges the conventions and 'norms' of traditional winemaking techniques.
There are few straight cabernet franc releases on the market, with a large proportion of the fruit blended away into other reds, which makes this special Hawke's Bay release even more exciting. The palate shows red berry characters with a hint of toasty cedar from oak ageing. It's a structured wine that will unfold with time in the cellar.

The winery writes "The 2021 has raspberry, strawberries, grapefruit and currants. Fresh and nuanced tomato leaf and jalapeno pepper notes add a layer of complexity. Background toasted cedar notes from oak ageing bring a lovely complexity to this vibrant, vital, crunchy elegant Cabernet Franc."
