Sam Harrop's Grand Amateaur range takes a fresh look at winemaking and challenges the conventions and 'norms' of traditional winemaking techniques.
This 2020 Gimblett Gravels Syrah is a study in power and elegance. The wine spent 6 months in stainless steel tanks and then a further 9 months in barrel which has resulted in lovely cedar characters. Soft, supple tannins and delicate acidity complete the palate. A sensational wine with exceptional length that will cellar for 5 - 8 years.

The winery writes "Ripe blue, red fruits, white pepper and background cedar notes from 10 months in barrel. The wine has a sublime texture with an elegant attack, medium sized, supple tannins and fresh acidity. Balanced, complex and concentrated with great length."
