Saint Clair have a stellar reputation for producing outstanding whites, and this lovely gewurtz definitely does not disappoint. The Pioneer Block range is made from small parcels of outstanding fruit selected specialists sites and the attention to detail is evident in this delightful gewurtz.
This is plush and lightly textural wine with those gorgeous spiced lychee and turkish delight flavours that the best gewurtz examples show. This wine is a bit of a show pony and we love it for that. Exotic flavours burst out all over the place and the finish is crisp and fresh without any hint of overt sweetness. Put a curry on the stove immediately.

Cuisine Magazine writes "Restrained but attractive on the nose with varietally appropriate turkish delight and dried spice coming through quietly. These characteristics are matched on the palate which is rich and creamy with plenty of well-balanced sweetness and an underlying precision."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Very expressive floral and fruit centric bouquet. Flavours of lychee nut and apple, lemon curd and tropical fruits. A silky texture touches the palate first with contrasting spice and acid line. Flavours of fresh white-fleshed fruits, some tropical, lemon verbena and a very light spritz note adds breadth and tickle on the palate."
The winery writes "Extended hang time on the vine enhances the concentration of flavours, revealing an intense and opulent style, displaying complex aromas of candied citrus peel, exotic spices and rose petal. The palate is round and full with an abundance of flavour. The early arrest of fermentation to retain some residual sugar has created a seductively rich and elegant wine."
