Widely regarded as one of the best value premium ranges in the country, the Wine Thief releases enjoy a gilt-edged reputation with discerning buyers looking for flagship quality at an affordable price point.
Cabernet Franc is a new addition to the Wine Thief range, and winemaker Nick Picone has done a great job with a small parcel of 2021 Gimblett Gravels fruit. Whole bunch pressing adds a complexing element to those plush dark, mocha tinged flavours, while maturation in seasoned oak has brought extra texture but kept the focus fully on those ripe cabernet franc fruits. Already accesible, this excellent wine will continue to develop over the coming 5-8 years.

The winery writes "Deeply coloured, pouring and aeration reveals an alluring fragrance of red fruit, red licorice, tobacco, and culinary herbs. The absence of new oak character serves to promote the wines purity, promoting a true expression of Cabernet Franc. The palate displays a core of rich red fruit and minerality which is unique to Gimblett Gravels, with deft acidity and tactile tannins delivering a wine with unique personality and texture. This wine is enjoyable upon release but will continue to gain further complexity with up to 8-10 years of bottle aging."
