97/100 | Tim Atkin MW
FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "Delectable and highly enjoyable."
92/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS
Patria Chica is a sensational Spanish red blend, brought into NZ by legendary importer Steve Bennett MW. Vino de Pago wines are produced in a small, specific area of Spain and are awarded the "Denomination de Pago", the highest classification of Spanish wine and one that only 20 wineries currently hold.
Vinted from an interesting blend of tempranillo, garnacha, merlot and cabernet sauvignon, this is plush, luxurious wine that fills your mouth with dark berry flavours and ripe tannins. Time in French oak has imparted subtle spicy notes which are nicely balanced by fresh acidity. We were blown away when we tried this and stellar reviews from NZ critics have confirmed what we thought - this is excellent wine that will make Spanish red fans very happy campers.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Great bouquet and palate with scents and flavours of brown spices and baked red berry fruits. Cinnamon and clove, dark plums and chocolate, blackberry and vanilla. There’s a seam of smoky wood, complexity from time in wood and a baseline of baked clay soil attributes. Dry, mealy chalky textures, core of fruit and spice layers deliver a wine with mouthfeel and intrigue."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "This is seductive and inviting on the nose, showing dark berry, earthy mushroom, smoked game and roasted nut aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate offering beautifully rounded mouthfeel together with silky texture and elegantly infused tannins. Delectable and highly enjoyable."
