Patch Wines is a collaboration between Kirilly Gordon and Matt Talbot that came to life after a brief stint working together in the Yarra Valley before Covid struck. When a patch of vines laden with ripe grapes turned up with no home to go to, it seemed like an excellent idea to turn them into wine!
The fruit for this excellent 2022 gamay comes from Eldridge Estate that is then whole-berry fermented and pressed to old oak for malolactic fermentation and ageing. It's reminiscent of quality beaujolais due to its playful fruitiness and lashings of red berry fruits. Delish.

Brendan Black, WinePilot writes "This is a very zippy rendition of Gamay that’s somewhat reminiscent of a Beaujolais nouveau with its playful fruitiness. It announces itself with notes of strawberry, raspberry and cherry, and lashings of confectionery, spice, earth and pepper. There’s some slight alcohol heat but it integrates well when the wine is paired with food, particularly something with some spice, like a curry or noodles."
