Cameron Douglas MS writes "An excellent bouquet of dark spices and black currant fruits, a mild pepper scent, barrel smoke and stony earth suggestions. A dry, taut wine with firm tannins and back bone acidity touch the palate first. The black currant and dark plum flavours follow with a gentle peppery quality and warming alcohol. Well made with a firm youthful finish."
The winery writes "A deep purple coloured wine displaying upfront floral aromas, savoury characters & peppery notes typical of this variety. This is a medium-bodied red wine with a supple tannin structure and a lengthy finish."
