94/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS - "A wine of complexity and depth"
The ‘Jewelstone’ wines of Mission have always had a near-mystical aura surrounding them and this 'excellent' 2021 release is a study in premium Hawke's Bay Chardonnay. Hand picked, gently whole bunch pressed and fermented in French oak. Absolutely world class.

Cameron Douglas writes "A wine of complexity and depth with a bouquet of fresh and roasted stone fruits, vanilla apices and mineral qualities suggesting clay and stone. As the wine opens out in glass the influences of barrel and excellent winemaking layer in texture and power, some finesse and charm. Plenty of weight and mouthfeel are driven by acidity and concentration of flavours from orchard fruits to barrel. Nut and spice, wood smoke and length."
The winery writes "Mission Jewelstone Chardonnay colour is pale straw and the the aromas are complex and sweet showing toast and stone fruit with hints of marzipan and complex struck flint notes. The palate is full with fine structure and forward fruit and a long clean finish. The texture is rich with subtle aromas on the mid palate."
