GOLD MEDAL | NWAA 2023
GOOD VALUE | JancisRobinson.com
Albarino is the famous white wine of Spain and this aromatic white is fast gaining popularity in New Zealand (indeed Bob Campbell MW is picking it as 'the next big thing'). Crisp and dry, it is a wonderful alternative for lovers of tangy riesling, sauvignon blanc or dry pinot gris and the 2023 release from Left Field is seriously delicious.
The smart money is on grabbing a dozen oysters and opening a bottle of this - and while that may be a taste of Nirvana for some, this very food friendly wine goes equally as well as a crisp aperitif or with salads and fresh seafoods. You really, really need to try it for yourself.

The winery writes "Life’s a beach with Albariño. Originally grown on the Spanish coast, this expat is living a new life growing down under in Gisborne, New Zealand. An aromatic upstart that will duel for your affection with juicy peach and melon flavours to be so more than your holiday romance."
