Sir John Kirwan MBE, the former rugby legend and mental health advocate, has been conducting a love affair with Italy for over 30 years now. (It's ok, his Italian wife is from Treviso, she gets it!) The fruit of this love affair is the selection of truly delicious and finely crafted Italian wines that he imports into New Zealand. With his son Luca and daughter Francesca playing an active role in the business, John and his family have carefully chosen wines that capture the heart and soul of the regions they are made from.
The JK Zin (meaning sea urchin in the Apulian dialect) is a lively, zesty and refreshing wine. Produced from 40 year old Fiano vines, there is a small percentage of the lesser-known, semi-aromatic Fiano Minutolo grape blended in for extra complexity. This delightful wine is complex with mineral notes, great balance and a fresh finish. Try paired with tagliatelle with asparagus, or a fresh piece of white fish sautéed with lemon, butter and capers. Too good.

The winery writes "The colour is bright straw yellow. There's intensity on the nose in aromas of peach, melon, herbs and pine, which translatea to the ripe, medium-bodied palate. Warm and soft in the mouth, zesty acidity on the palate accompanied by freshness. Pleasant floral note that persists on the finish."
