PREMIUM HAWKE'S BAY SYRAH FROM DECIBEL'S DANIEL BRENNAN AND SECRET WINEMAKER.
SHHH. THIS IS A MYSTERIOUS WINE OF ENIGMATIC ORIGINS.
FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "Awesome fruit purity and weight, finishing splendidly long and structured."
93/100 | Decanter Magazine
93/100 | Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
92/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS - "A lovely wine that I expect will age rather well."
Made as a secret Decibel Wines Collaboration Project with a local winemaking legend who must remain un-named, Hush Syrah is as good as it gets. This is the second vintage of this storied wine - produced from a new site, with a new winemaker, but just as "hush, hush" as always...
With incredible palate lift, generously proportioned tannins and vibrant spicy notes, this is top-quality Hawke's Bay Syrah at its core. Expect inviting aromas of blackcurrant, white spice and plums that lead you to a palate full of red berry and chocolate notes.
It's a mysterious wine - but all you really need to know is that it's really, really good. We were super impressed when we tried this wine and we know you will be too.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Dark purple and ruby core with a pink rim and color staining of the tears. Aromas of dark berries and violets, plums and fresh black currant. A very youthful bouquet with power, intensity and drive. Equally powerful on the palate with a taut core of red berries and plums, black currant and chocolate flavours. Firm tannins and back bone of acidity both need time to settle and integrate fully. A lovely wine that I expect will age rather well."
Bob Campbell MW writes "Dense, rich and savoury syrah with coffee/mocha, red-fleshed plum, smoky oak, and dark chocolate complete with a subtle bitter character. Vinous rather than fruity with an appealingly mellow texture. Should develop well with bottle age."
Cuisine Magazine writes "Deep ruby with intensity in the glass that goes to the rim. The nose is subdued but inviting with lifted florals and spice. The palate is rich with fruit sweetness and generous with nice-weight grainy tannins and a silky flow."
Gary Walsh, The Wine Front writes "White pepper, blackcurrant. Medium-bodied, fine dusty peppery tannin offers light grip, a little truffle seasoning, some red fruit on the finish, with bright acidity and good length. No mistaking it for anything other than Syrah. Restrained style."
