Chateau Garage is the exciting small batch project of Ollie Powrie - former Head Viticulturist for Villa Maria and well known character on the Hawke's Bay wine scene. Few people have such impeccable grower contacts as Ollie so Chateau Garage was always going to be blessed with great fruit - and these releases mark an auspicious debut from a 'micro-brand' that is well worth watching.

Amphora 2023 is quality, super small-batch cabernet sauvignon under wax-seal showing classic Hawke's Bay Cabernet characters - underlying herbal and tobacco notes balanced with cherry and raspberry flavours. The wine spent five months in barrel before it was bottled in the driveway! With a solid cellar potential ahead of it, this will develop even further over the coming 15 years.
