Coopers Creek SV St John Merlot 2013

BOTTLE AGED MERLOT FROM 2013 - VINTAGE OF A LIFETIME!
GOLD MEDAL | Hawke's Bay Wine Awards
BEST BUY | Cuisine Magazine

We've negotiated a signficantly sharper price than when we last had this superb wine in stock. Being able to serve perfectly bottle-aged Hawke's Bay reds is always a treat but paying under $15 for that privilege is something we thought we'd never see again! We have tasted this wine and can confirm that it is presented for sale in pristine condition.

From the magnificent 2013 Hawke's Bay vintage comes this excellent merlot from Cooper's Creek trusty St John Vineyard. Loaded with mocha, plums and an amalgam of lightly spicy red / black fruits this, wine is bottle-aged to perfection and in splendid, mature form. Now 12 years on from harvest, those rich fruit flavours remain bright and are now wonderfully integrated. The tannins have softened over time but still support the palate beautifully, and a nice line of acidity keeps the whole thing together and makes it clear that there is still plenty of life in this wine.

Now well under $20 with the Advintage Advantage, this amazing opportunity lets you put quality 2013 single vineyard merlot on your table for a song. Stock is obviously limited. Grab what you can.

Tasting Notes

The winery writes "This is a deeply coloured wine. It has an almost black core running to a deep purple-red rim. Opulent and ripe. Black Doris plum wrapped in some subtle background oak. Rich and full, yet soft and round."

Yvonne Lorkin writes "Very earthy on the nose, but I like the burst of berryfruit which comes through on the palate."
