The previous vintage of this powerful, all conquering release from Church Road enjoyed outstanding award show success. It was awarded Trophy for Overall Champion Chardonnay of Show at the 2024 IWC - a Trophy reserved for the best chardonnay at the entire competition. The IWC is one of the world's biggest wine shows, and receiving the Champion Trophy is an absolutely outstanding achievement.
Only the finest parcels of fruit were selected from their best vineyards in the Tuki Tuki river valley, and the result is a chardonnay showing immense complexity, structure and depth.
Produced only in the best vintages, Grand Reserve is always exceptional drinking - a full bodied style with stonefruit and toasty characters on the nose that follow through on the palate to a long and lingering finish. Powerful wine, yet remaining elegant in true Church Road style. An A-Lister wine.

Tasting Notes
The winery writes "A fuller bodied Chardonnay balanced by gentle, fresh acidity and a spine of slate-like minerality. Fresh zesty citrus and citrus blossom notes are to the fore this year with riper, richer stonefruit underlying and providing extra depth. The fruit is overlaid with complexities of roasted nuts, toasted brioche, and a hint of struck flint and gun smoke. Already drinking
exceptionally well, with careful cellaring we expect this wine to continue to mature gracefully for 6 years or more from vintage date. With age, the wine will develop more complex, savoury nuttiness and will gain breadth and richness on the palate."
