This is wonderful buying and another example of the absolute value that gifted importer Steve Bennett MW brings to the New Zealand wine buying public. Produced using the Methode Traditionelle process with a minimum ageing on lees of 12 months, this is an excellent example of elegant and refined sparkling wine from Burgundy. It has been vinted from a regional selection of white grapes and is fresh, clean and very, very moreish.
Eugène Chevalier established his company in Charnay-lès-Mâcon, near Mâcon, in 1920. Now owned by the famous house of Boisset, Maison Chevalier still proudly produce sparkling wines using a natural method, whose extended vat ageing allows the expression of the quality of the base wines, the fullness of their maturity and brightness of their aromas.
