91/100 | Wine Enthusiast
The Chateau Maucoil Estate in the Southern Rhone Valley holds so much history - the property was originally used as an army fortress and is one of the 9 oldest houses of Chateauneuf-du-Pape who have been producing wine since 1624 - that's older than New Zealand! Now, Chateau Maucoil is 100% biodynamic across their vines planted back in the 17th century.
This lovely blend of 60% grenache, 15% syrah, 15% mourvedre and 10% cinsault offers ripe dark fruit flavours of plums and blueberries. While this is drinking beautifully now, this wine has the ability to be cellared for 10 years for added complexity. We recommend pairing with rich, creamy dishes such as a beef stew or mushroom casserole for a wonderful drinking experience.

The distributor writes "Strong ruby red hue with a beautiful shine. Very fine on the nose with superb black fruit and spicy notes. Delightful and intense on the palate, with lovely balance and great elegance, from the moment it was bottled."
