Blackenbrook are a small, family-run winery in the Nelson region. They take a 'quality over quantity' approach to winemaking and, as well as being an accredited sustainable winegrowing producer, most of their wines are also unfined and vegan.
This a lovely example of Nelson Pinot Gris. It's lush and textural and a small component was aged in barrels which has added complexity and interest. The palate is dominated by peach characters with a hint of spice dancing around the edges. An element of sweetness is kept in check nicely by fresh, lingering acidity. Superb wine from this boutique producer.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Elegant, enticing, varietal, ripe and fruity with core aromas of brown pear, apple and white nectarine. ON the a palate a satin texture touches first then core flavours of white fleshed orchard fruits, citrus, apple and and gentle peppery quality. Acidity pulls everything together with a decent weight and just warming alcohol presence."
The winery writes "Pristine and pure, our Pinot Gris is bursting with peaches, pears and spices in a delightful full-bodied texture that lingers long on the palate."
