91/100 | Cameron Douglas MS
90/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
We're pretty excited about this new release from Black Cottage. It's gorgeous, weighty Gisborne Chardonnay with opulent layers of bottled peach and creamy oak complexity coming from full malo-fermentation. A clean line of fresh acidity finishes things off. With a price tag under the magical $20 barrier, this really does tick every box on our chardonnay superbuy checklist. Get in there.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's delightfully fruited and elegantly expressed on the nose with ripe apricot, rockmelon, nougat and roasted cashew aromas, leading to a beautifully rounded palate offering succulent fruit flavours with creamy texture and well-pitched acidity. Supple and soothing, offering friendly drinking."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Young fresh and vibrant bouquet with an oyster shell and white fleshed fruits bouquet. Aromas of salty air and peach, apple and citrus lead to delicate scents of lees and a whisper of toastyness. A lightweight satin cream touches the palate first then acid with contrasting white fleshed fruit flavours layer in. Quite plush, fresh immediately drinkable and ready for Summer 2023."
The winery writes "Ripe citrus, juicy mandarin, apricot and white flower aromas mingle with rich, toasty almond, pine nut and flint. An elegant and refined style with good mid-palate weight and a lingering creamy finish."
